Learning Evaluation
To provide a quality service we ask learners to provide feedback on both eLearning and facilitated events. In some circumstances, we may withhold certificates until you have completed an evaluation form.
Facilitated events: expectations and conduct
Islington Council is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and effective learning environment. To help us to do so:
Before the event
- Before booking agree your attendance with your manager. Some events may need their prior approval.
- Think about what you want to learn and how you will apply it and discuss with your manager.
- If you have a disability, contact the event organiser if any adjustments are necessary (or would be helpful) for you to access, participate in and fully benefit from the event. Adjustments may include, but are not limited to, variations to the venue, timings, course materials or method of delivery.
- If you cannot attend, cancel your booking on MyLearning or contact the event organiser, providing as much notice as possible. Cancellation charges apply for non-attendance and short-notice cancellations.
- If you might be late, contact the event organiser, providing as much notice as possible.
- Complete any pre-course preparation. Failure to complete any pre-course preparation may result in you being asked to re-book for a future date or place being cancelled and a non-attendance fee being charged.
On the day
- For in person events please arrive 15 minutes before the start time for registration details. Due to disruption caused, participants arriving after the stated start time should not expect admission. The full course fee or cancellation fee (whichever is the highest) will apply.
- For virtual events please join the session 5 minutes prior to the start time to ensure any connectivity issues are addressed. Should you join after the start time you may be denied access and the course fee or cancellation fee (whichever is the highest) will apply.
- To provide a safe, supportive learning environment the facilitator will establish ground rules, including issues of confidentiality and whistleblowing. We expect all learners to abide by the ground rules.
- We will challenge discrimination and negative stereotyping in the content and facilitation of our events. Please support us by challenging behaviour or language that you feel is discriminatory. If any issues or concerns arise during the event, you should discuss this with the trainer/facilitator in the first instance. If this is not appropriate or unresolved, please advise the event organiser.
Cancellations
It is our policy not to cancel a facilitated event unless there is below the minimum number of bookings (usually 6) and within 5 working days of the event, unless there are unavoidable circumstances. We will contact learners by email/telephone. Please ensure that contact details up to date on MyLearning.
If you are unable to attend a booked event, you must cancel via your MyLearning account or contact the event organiser. Please cancel your place at least 10 working days before the event is due to take place so that we can offer your place to someone else. If you do not cancel more than 10 working days before the date of the event, a cancellation/non-attendance fee will apply.
Charges and payments
Islington Council reserve the right to charge for access to certain learning events and for cancellations and non-attendance. Fees are shown on MyLearning. Cancellation and non-attendance fees are £50 per session or the event/course fee, whichever is greater.
All learners should ensure they agree their attendance and associated charges with their manager/ budget holder before booking a place on any events.
Course fees, cancellation or non-attendance fees for Islington Council employees, volunteers, agency workers and work experience trainees will be recharged to the service in which they are working. For all external account holders, we will use the billing contact details provided when requesting an account. Any applicable fees and charges that are invoiced to your employer will be governed by Islington Council’s debt recovery process.
